About the program

“The Path to Virtuosity” is the theme of this year’s keynote lecture, which will be led by our distinguished clarinet soloist, chamber musician, and supportive friend of our festival, Mate Bekavac.

During the festival week, we will explore opportunities to advance in our own playing. We will delve into the core repertoire of every clarinetist. This year, we have selected the following works:

 – H. Rabaud: Solo de concours

– A. Messager: Solo de concours

– G. Rossini: Theme with Variations

– L. Bassi: Fantasia da concerto (Rigoletto)

– H. J. Baermann: Adagio

– R. Schumann: Fantasiestücke

– O. Messiaen: Solo from Quartet for the End of Time (Abime des oiseaux – The Death of the Birds)

With his profound knowledge, Mate Bekavac will guide us in enhancing our skills and point us toward new areas of exploration. This year, the most promising participant will perform at a joint concert with the mentors, featuring Baermann’s Adagio accompanied by a string quartet.

We are also thrilled that Matic Kuder, a member of the Berlin Philharmonic, will be joining us again to share practical tips on studying orchestral solos and general audition preparation.

A new feature of this year’s festival will be a multi-day workshop led by Tomaž Zevnik: Introduction to Improvisation, where participants can discover a lesser-known side of brain training and clarinet skills.

In the Junior 10+ workshop, we will diligently prepare pieces for performances and also take time to address individual technical challenges.

This year there are few individual lessons by desired mentor available to Active participants at reasonable rate.

The Festival Klarinetkanje 2024 will be lively, filled with music, and we look forward to your participation.
